Hi, I’m Sammy

I’m here to share with you (mostly) healthy recipes to help you feel your best.

In November 2020 I sustained a severe life-changing concussion, a type of traumatic brain injury (TBI). During my ongoing TBI recovery, I’ve become aware of how the foods we eat affect both our physical brain function and emotional wellbeing. Here I share the food and recipes that make me feel good and hope you’ll enjoy them too!

I love dark chocolate, local produce, baking cookbooks, and lemon vinaigrettes.

The Gut-Brain Connection

Did you know that even if you don’t have a brain injury, the foods you eat directly affect your brain and how it functions?

Studies show that eating a nutritious diet results in calmer moods and clearer thinking. Personally, when I eat right for my brain, I have less brain fog, fewer headaches, less anxiety, and a more positive outlook on my recovery.

Here I share recipes that nourish and cultivate the gut-brain connection by:

  • Featuring nutrient-dense foods that have a positive effect on physical brain health and function
  • Supporting our emotional wellbeing- recipes that bring comfort and that we can turn to during times of anxiety and unease
  • Exploring the science of what we eat, where our food comes from, and how it affects our bodies

Lola loves sniffing, cuddling, cozy blankets, and running.
